“First we eat, then we do everything else.” –M.F.K Fisher

My inspiration is drawn from philosophical and humorous writings on food and cooking, which reflect the passion of the author and carry food into all areas of life. We relate to food traditions through the utensils we use to make and eat it and these objects’ beauty of design and function inform my work.

Just a Sprinkle spins while worn, engaging the ring wearer in play and contemplation and transforming the process of cooking into adornment. Movement, sound and form recall cooking processes, while leaving its function behind.

Colander plays with the utilitarian nature of a common cooking implement, taking its beautiful elements and creating precious decoration. Abstracting the clean aesthetics of cooking utensils, I explore our relationships to food in daily life.
