Perhaps one of the most important conversations we have in our lives is the one we have with ourselves; an inner dialogue consisting of self-doubt, conflict and motivation. This piece is in response to my post MFA experience and the new inner conversation that has emerged as a result. One that has me in the midst of unpacking the copious amounts of opinions and information so generously shared with me over the span of two years. The hours of conversation I had with supervisors, committee members, and fellow students are swirling around in my mind trying to be sorted out and made sense of. These conversations have started me on a trajectory, eager to take flight. Leaving me at the end of this experience feeling like I had only begun.
Presently my work is driven by my exploration of the stainless steel mesh I started in the end of my last semester. With this piece I set out to let the piece unfold simply by experimenting with the new material. Letting it guide me while practising my new found skills of trusting my gut. Allowing myself to move through the motions not over thinking and listening to my inner conversation.
