Mariëtte Roodenburg was born in Curaçao and raised in the Netherlands. She moved to Nova Scotia, Canada in 2003 and became a Canadian citizen in 2014. In 2005 she launched Anderson, gallery of contemporary photography in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, which she sold in 2015. Her formal education includes a Bachelors degree in Art History and Archeology from Leiden University, an MBA from IIB Delft, and a PhD from Rotterdam University. She studied photography at the Academy Amsterdam- Fotogram in the Netherlands. Prior to becoming a full-time photographer, she worked in finance in Europe and South East Asia. Her photographic work has been exhibited in The Netherlands, Germany, The United States and Canada and is in numerous international private collections.
