Gordon’s painting practice revolves around questions of meaning-making in contemporary painting. Atticus combines traditional painting methodologies with contemporary technology. Working from digital animations and photo collages, Atticus’s paintings display an altered reality; spaces combine, figures interact, and the logic of reality is replaced by a painterly logic. An interest in story telling pervades Atticus paintings through narrative and atmospheric spaces. Atticus is interested in exploring contemporary life through subtle means, often his paintings feature friends and acquaintances pulling inspiration and reference from his immediate life and surroundings.
Atticus would like to acknowledge the support of the Ontario Arts Council.
